About

Hamster Nest started with a simple problem — when we got our first hamster, the information online was scattered, outdated, or written by people who clearly hadn't spent much time around an actual hamster.

We wanted one place that gave honest, practical answers to the questions every hamster owner actually has — why is it biting me, what can it eat, is this cage big enough, is it sick or just sleeping — without making you click through ten different websites to piece it together.

That's what Hamster Nest is — a focused, regularly updated resource for hamster care built around what owners genuinely need to know, from the first day home to the final years of a hamster's life.

What We Cover

Every article on Hamster Nest falls into one of five areas:

  • Hamster Care — the fundamentals of daily life, behavior, taming, and handling
  • Cage & Setup — what to buy, what to skip, and how to build an environment your hamster will actually thrive in
  • Food & Diet — what's safe, what's dangerous, and how to feed correctly without overcomplicating it
  • Health & Vet — recognizing illness early, knowing when to act, and understanding what's normal
  • Breeds — the real differences between Syrian, dwarf, Roborovski, Winter White, and Chinese hamsters

Our Approach

We write for hamster owners, not for search engines — which means we give direct answers, acknowledge when something is genuinely uncertain, and don't pad articles with information that doesn't help you take better care of your hamster.

All articles are reviewed regularly and updated when care standards or recommendations change — if you spot something outdated or inaccurate, the contact page is always open.
